The sustainable main material: banana fiber

Banana fiber is a natural, untreated plant fiber that has a wonderfully natural feel. This abundant, renewable resource comes from banana trees that are widely grown in Indonesia. Its fibrous bark separates from the trunk as it grows, is then collected and dried in the sun for about a week, which naturally creates the intense brown color. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, approximately 6 mm thick, which are processed into traditional basketry by our production partners in Java.
