The handcrafted Mulia lampshade is made from flat rattan fibers carefully woven into a sturdy metal frame. The sculptural step-like design gives Mulia an extraordinary charisma. The steps are deliberately arranged so that they are not perfectly flat or straight, giving the lampshade an organic and natural look that sets it apart from our other rattan lampshades.
For Mulia, the rattan is simply steamed and rolled without any further processing. This allows it to retain its natural light color and fibrous texture. From the first touch you can feel the quality of a genuine natural product, made with dedication and craftsmanship. The material is very light, which makes installing Mulia much easier compared to lampshades made of heavy metal or solid wood.
The rattan lampshade is delivered without cables and bulbs . However, you can easily find these in any hardware store. This gives you the freedom to customize Mulia to your own style and needs.
Mass weight:
Diameter x height: 32x50 cm
Weight: 0.78kg
SOEJI products are artfully crafted unique pieces. Due to hand manufacturing and natural material variations, they may vary slightly in size, color and shape.
Main material: rattan
Rattan palms tend to grow in large quantities in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants because they take up space from other plants and drain many nutrients from the soil. The stems, which grow quickly without chemical additives, must be cut off regularly and, after the drying process, can be used as material for furniture and baskets. This makes rattan an extremely sustainable and abundant material.
Other materials: metal frame
This lampshade is handmade in Bali, Indonesia.
When selecting local producers, Soeji attaches great importance to fair pay and good working conditions. In the factories where they source their goods, they only work with adult and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process causes hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. Soeji ensures all of this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
