Rattan palms tend to grow in large quantities in dense forests, where they are considered invasive plants because they take up space from other plants and drain many nutrients from the soil. The stems, which grow quickly without chemical additives, must be cut off regularly and, after the drying process, can be used as material for furniture and baskets. This makes rattan an extremely sustainable and abundant material.

Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process causes hardly any greenhouse gas emissions.
